Week of January 6th 2025-01-13
Hello Friends and Family,
Well another day, another dollar as they say. This week started off with Grandpa bringing us a car to use while ours is in the shop. We talked about it on Sunday and by Monday afternoon he was here. The grand kids love it when he comes. Ronia walked around saying Ganpa, Ganpa, Ganpa and everyone is glad to see him. He drove a Suburban pulling a car dolly with a Honda on it. Then when it was time to go home he drove the Honda home. It has been a big blessing to have a car that will fit all of us while ours is in the shop. Grandpa’s Suburban has a few secrets, like a pre-start switch but gets us where we have needed to go. Our car got a good going over. After a few days and a big bill it is now back in the driveway. May it last well for the rest of the year. Other then car adventures there has not been much going on. Homeschool with the kids, shopping and laundry on Firday and lots of cleaning on Saturday. Church now starts at 9am so it means an early start for us. Roll out of bed at 7, eat, get dressed and hit the road for the 1 hour trip into town. We are using chains this time of year and that adds time to the trip both ways. Jordan is always great to get out and get it done. He wears his carhart overalls and coat over his Sunday cloths to not get dirty when he is putting on the chains.
Jordan and I are both tired… for a while Jordan has really been burnt out at work. It has been really bad. But in the last few weeks he has made some changes that are starting to take effect. He got a new client for the next few months, that is doing something that he is more interested in. And he has worked to change his role with his old client. Things are not perfect but it is all a step in the right direction. And it’s really good for him to start to be able to enjoy and concentrate on his work again. We hope that this change in work will continue. We would like to move to product based work and maybe some hosting work that would be on retainer. There is only so much time on earth for us and both Jordan and I would like to change how life feels for us as a family. Work is part of it and it is sort of a major part but there are other areas that we want to change as well. As we get older :-}} There is this thing called “Health” that seems more and more important. So spending time really getting fit is on top of the list. I’m reading a Steven Covey book called “First Things First” and it talks about how we really don’t have control in our life, rather principles do. We can choose our actions but we can not choose the results of those actions, principles do. So we want to live the principles that bring good health. I have about 40 lbs I want to lose… Then I would be at a healthy weight for my height. I’ve started to change my actions and so far I’ve lost 4 lbs in about a month. It’s not fast but if I keep it up I will get to my goal in the end. As I get closer and closer to the big 40 (just a few more days to go) I have a lot of thoughts about that I would like the next ten years to look like. In many ways we are on track to have a good life. But in other ares there is some course changes that we need to make if we want to make it to the finish line looking good. Cause 40 is not done, it’s just beginning and I want to do it strong.
Liliwen now thinks she is a big girl. She went to nursery at church with Jordan and Ronia and loved it. And she loves to ride around in a wagon that Grandpa brought us this trip. It’s also a great way to put her so sleep :-}} But ssshhh don’t tell her that.
Merideth is starting to learn to read and doing great at it. She has really got going on it and if Eomear does not watch out she will catch up with him. She seems just to soak it up and dose not resist at all… Which is a nice change from you know who. Don’t worry Eomaer we love you :-}} Ronia also is starting to pick up a word or two and she loves to pretend read. One of my favorite pictures this week is her reading to her self.
Jordan has started teaching the kids martial arts 3 nights a week. He got a black belt when he was a teenager and remembers a lot of it. And it’s a great way to spend the winter nights. So far it’s been a lot of fun for all the kids even Ronia likes to line up and punch or kick a little.
Gwyn is our cook most nights and does a really good job. Granted the lady of the house and the cook do not always agree on what is to be cooked but we come to an agreement most nights :-}} She got a A+ on her last English assignment, which is amazing. Both the girls have really enjoyed having their online school. I have to admit that it’s really taken a load off of my mind. It lets me really focus on Meridith and Eomear. Well it’s time for bed so I’m signing off for now.
Until Next week cheers,
Love,
Heather
