Family Life 2025-01-07

Hello Friends and Family,

This blog as is much for me as it for you. It’s been really fun to look back at all of our adventures and it sort of serves as a family journal. That all being said at times I might write things that seem very important to me but might seem mundane to the rest of the world. Being a homeschooling mom of six means that life is filled with many simple things. Things that this world does not value all that much but that build the foundation for a happy and healthy home life. One of my favorite simple moments this week is having time to nurse and hold my baby. A lot of life is spent nursing when you have an 5 month old. I have to admit that I do a lot of reading while I nurse. But every once and a while I love just to sit in my glider rocker and hold my little one and drink her in. There is nothing in the world quite like holding a new person, so small and innocent. Her warm little body fits in to my arms just right. I get to hold her and know that for now I’m meeting all her needs by just being there. And in return she gives all she is. Its a special time just to be together. I’m so thankful that I get to be here with all my kids. It can be a little wild at times… But I’m building a person each time I nurse or read a story. Or even yes, those times when a reprimand is in order. Some times I can wish that motherhood was all just the soft loving feeling of nursing. But at times being a good mother means really standing firm and laying it out for them. And backing it up with whatever I think will get through to them. It’s a good thing that there are two parents in this house because when one parent is ready to just about kill someone the other of us will say lets look at this and come up with something that is not as severe but still addresses the situation. There are pluses to having two parents around all the time.

This last week was when we finally got the snow we had been waiting for. No snow for Christmas but on Saturday the 28th of December we got our snow. It is as if the world has a winter blanket on and can rest. There is a feeling that the land can take a deep breath and exhale. Everything is quite and at peace. No birds, no squirrels just quite and still. Jordan and I both find winter a time to relax as there is less to do then the summer when it seems like there is a never ending list of things to do. Now is the time to stay home and just chill.

The New Year Came!!! Happy 2025!!! We stayed home and had finger food and games with the kids.

The first challenge of the year came when we went to start our car on Thursday the 2th of January. It started misfiring and well, needless to say, it is going to the mechanic. Jordan was brave and drove it into town to get groceries and do laundry on Friday. The next day we had lots of laundry to fold. Gwyn took it on with grace and it was done in no time. There was also a lot of groceries to put away as well. When you check out of Costco with a flatbed there is just a lot. It can seem like it takes all day to put away a town trip and sweep and mop the yurt. Sunday we stayed home because of the car. So it was a quiet day. We took a walk as a family and a snow ball fight ensued. The car has an appointment on this Wednesday. And Dad just brought us an backup Suburban…

Until next time, cheers,

Love

Heather

PS Liliwen cut her first tooth this week.

PPS My favorite picture of all this week is Ronia in her own bed. One of the most precious moments of all is when little ones are asleep.
