A week in Winter 2025-01-19

Hello Friends and Family,

So it’s winter here… That means a lot of things for us. One of them is beautiful nights, let me explain. Last Monday night I went outside at about 2 am. It was a full moon in all it’s glory. It cast shadows as strong as day and all the snow was sparkling like diamonds. The stars that I could see were the very brightest. The big ones that can stand out even with the light of a moon. The world was cold sliver and diamonds against the black of the evergreens. Its the kind of beauty that only nature can make. Its raw and cold and yet at the same time refined. It looks like a world that silver elvs could come from. If I had not really wanted just to get back to sleep I would have liked to walk our woods and see it in all it’s beauty. Maybe when sleep is not so precious…

Liliwen is growing up… She loves to watch the kids do martial arts. And one time I took her over and gave her a chance to hold the kicking pad. She chewed on it some and then said it was Gwyn’s turn.

I read Hondo By Louis L’Amour this week. My brother had said that it was good and I got it for someone for Christmas and then I had a chance to look at it I realized that I wanted to read it to. So I went to our locol used book store and got myself a copy. Its a really good read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a wonderful interplay between a man and a women. Him being a man made her realize just how much of a women she was… There is a quote in bugs bunny that says “Where men can be men and women are women”. There is something wonderful in that mystery. And it gives a warmth and fire to life that nothing else can. Thanks bro for the good recommendation :-}} The girls and I watched the movie of Hondo with John Wayne in it on Tuesday night when all the boys were away at a church activities.

Friday was my 40th birthday. Someone asked if we had any fun plans. I said cake and presents. But that the best part of being 40 was that I had a husband and kids that loved me and I them. That that was what made it a wonderful birthday. Jordan and the girls made me a gluten-free, low sugar cake. And there were some fun presents. But just being with my people was what made the day wonderful. Ronia was so sweet, she sat on my lap as I unwrapped presents and had cake. She said “Happy Birthday Darling” and “Happy Birthday I cook all day” referring to her helping make the cake. Merideth made me a yellow birthday card. And I got some wonderful phone calls from people. One of Which was Grandma Ruth. I wish that we lived closer to her. I’ve told Jordan that we will have to move to be close to Grandkids when that time comes.

Saturday we did shopping. We left the oldest 3 and took the 3 little ones. It can be quite the day when we do all the things that need to get done. Jordan was really sweet and took me out for lunch at a new restaurant. The kids loved it because it had noodles :-}} We also hit up our favorite book store. It’s an interesting store. There are no prices. You pick your books take them up front, Jim takes a look at them and sets you price. That means that depending on who you are you get different prices. Someone that he has never seen gets charged the most, regulars less and someone that just gave him Chocolate cookies gets to set their own price :-}} I wish that more stores could be this way.

Sunday it’s out the door and off to church. I took my camera with me and took some pictures of Jordan doing chains. Any guess at what Jordans favorite color is? Can anyone say BLACK. There is some pictures of what the drive home looks like for us cold, clear Montana winter.
