Christmas 2024-12-29

Hello Friends and Family,

One of our new year resolutions this year is to keep a weekly blog for our family. So here is my part for the week of Christmas 2024. Lets see, it has been a wonderful week for us. Jordan had the week off from work and the older girls had school off as well. There was a lot of last minute Christmas prep on Monday and Tuesday. There were a lot of presents to wrap up. Between all of us taking turns it all got done on time. Christmas eve everyone got to open one gift in the evening. Someone who will remain nameless has issues with being grateful for things… So before bed they got to do 100 push ups. The next day we did not have any issues with being grateful. I love watching the kids open their presents. I have to admit that I will watch everyone open theirs then open mine last. Let’s see: Arywen’s favorite presents were 4 necklaces and a punching bag, Gwyn’s some really beautiful hair pins, Eomaer’s favorite was a package of colored clay to do projects with. Merideth’s was a play set with an owl and a fairy. And last but not least my husband got me a new camera. My old one really was just not working anymore. It’s so nice to have a camera that will do what you want it to. I have had a fun time figuring it out and taking pictures of the family.

Christmas night we had the elders over for dinner. Jordan had to go and get them because our road is covered with about two inches of ice right now. Even with chains on all four wheels, four wheel drive, and going slow it is still an adventure. We did a turkey dinner because I just did not get enough at Thanksgiving. The elders shared a spiritual thought after differ, which was that Satan so did not want the Savoir to be born because he knew onece Jesus was born there would be no stopping him. We talked some about our advent book (Bartholomew’s Passage: A Family Story for Advent by Arnold Ytreeide) that we have been reading and how that has been turning our hearts to the Savior this month. It’s something that really helps make the whole month of December a lead up to Christmas. It’s told from the perspective of a child so it really helps the kids relate.

One of Merideth’s presents was a heavy duty sled. It’s one from the ranch store and is ment for work. I’m thinking it might hold up to kids. All the other sleds that we have gotten just fall apart or break after a few times on our hill. But we thought this one might hold up. So Saturday we got the whole family out to a sledding expedition. I had thought that Liliwen and I would just watch but she seemed really into it. So I thought she might like to try it out. We put her in the sled with Merideth and let them slide down the hill and it was a hit. Liliwen just loved it. That is that happens when you are the youngest in a big family. You get to do things a lot sooner then you otherwise would have.

Today is Jordan and my 17th wedding anniversary. It just keeps getting better and better :-}}
